4 players space skirmish EAW map. It was submitted to EAW Map Making Contest.
Before the Death Star can get close to Alderaan to fire it's weapon, the Empire must first take control the space above the planet. A weak first wave of Empire ships have arrived in orbit above Alderaan and have setup Starbases to contest the region. Will the Rebels be able to repel the first wave of Empire attacks?
Rebel Hint: Due to the Empire having two starbases, rushing them won't work so well on this map. You can only upgrade one space station at a time, so have one team member focused on upgrading a space station and the team's ships while the other 3 team members take and hold as many mines as possable. Once your team has Luke Skywalker and/or Ion Cannon ready, take out the shields of the most upgraded Empire starbase (if you take out the base they are upgrading first, they will be pushed back down to tech 1 once it is destroyed) and have all of your team's forces focus on it. When the Empire's most upgraded starbase is destroyed, finish off the second starbase before they get it upgraded enough to meet your tech level.

Once your team has Enough Frigates/Destroyers/TIE Bombers, focus on taking out their most upgraded starbase. Have all TIE Bombers fire on the Starbase's shield generator while the rest of your team's ships focus on taking out any rebel ships defending the starbase. Once the shield generator is down, get your team to have all ships fire on the base. Tips & Comments from the map creator
* The turrets at the northwest and southeast corners at the map, when upgraded to missle launchers, can hit any ship that trys to pass that chokepoint. Highly recommended missle turrets over lasers in that area.
* Often times a team will be able to secure a starbase before it blows up. Incase you don't know, after upgrading a starbase any destroyed hardpoints will reappear and become grey. Simply left clicking these after upgrading will make the base repair itself. Since you have two bases, it is a good idea to repair a base (especially if it is your primary, partially upgraded base) after any attack.
* The pirate base in the center of the map is rarely fought over due to the four contested mines, however it is a good idea to send one of your starting units to it inorder to create pirate frigates while your base is still upgrading to level 2. Having this will beat corvette/tartan rushes that you see in most games these days. The first one to get those turrets near the pirate station online usually hold it the whole game.
* The Empire's starbases look like they are not placed in the center of the quarter of the map they are in. The reason I designed them like this is because when they reach level 2 they will expand outwards unlike the Rebel bases. When the base is level 5 it will be exactly centered in it's quarter of the map.
* Most teams will always leave their rear mine undefended, take advantage of this whenever possable with fast ships.
* There are no turrets located close enough to any mine to defend them, this is intended to allow sabotage tactics to work, and require the players to defend their mines at all times. Of course, offense is the best defense.
* Most teams will leave their mines lightly, or not defended at all when attacking your base. Send a few small fast units during an attack to destroy and take their money resorces if possable. All of your large ships and heros should stay defending your base however, as that is just as important as sabotaging the enemy's resorces.
* Do not bother upgrading the second starbase inless it needs to be repaired. Instead of upgrading two starbases to level 2, you should work on upgrading one starbase to level 4.
* This map is designed to be played with 6-8 players, having less then this will make the map much easier to use tech 2 frigate rushes, and often times will reduce the duration and fun of the match.
* If you are hosting an 6-8 player game with this map, it is always best to check the connection's of every player before starting the match, this will not only insure that everyone in the game will be able to connect, but also upload the map to them before the game even starts. This will reduce the time it takes to start the game and reduce the chance players will get impatient and cancel out. Highly recommended.
